As not everyone's fitness level is the same, it is impossible to objectively rate the difficulty of a hike.

In order to tackle this issue, we use the IBP (Intelligent Benchmark Prediction) index.

This index is an algorithm that analyses the difficulty of a hiking trail and generates a precise number. This number will not only help you to figure out how challenging the hike will be for you, but it also allows you to compare the difficulty levels of different trails.

A hike with an IBP index of 60 will be (very) hard for a newbie, pretty normal for someone with an average preparation and very comfortable for someone who has an excellent fitness level.
