It is important to know that:

  1. If you come by car, pay attention to the given coordinates. Drivers please check the coordinates and the route you intend to follow, at least the day before the event to avoid any hiccups. It is not the first time that an app sends a driver to a different location...!
  2. There are no restrooms near the car park.

  3. The campsite is located at Lata Jerbus. You will have to walk 30 minutes from the campsite. Keep that in mind if you want to bring a lot of stuff.

  4. The campsite is quite spacious and has trees to tie hammocks and flysheets.

  5. Given the actual weather conditions, make sure that your tent is waterproof.

  6. This is a 2D/1N outing, not a ten day trekking - you will not need to bring much stuff. However, do not forget to bring a headlamp.

  7. We will socialise during the day and maybe we will stretch our legs in the afternoon. On Sunday we will hike with the group to Bukit Kut, provided you have paid for the permit - See the Procedure.

  8. You are advised to bring sufficient food/drinks for one lunch, one dinner and one breakfast.

  9. The campsite is next to the stream, so there is a water source. IMPORTANT: always treat water before drinking it.

  10. Do not forget to bring mosquito coils/repellent.

  11. Wear shoes with a good profile to prevent sliding. No slippers, no crocs, no shoes or sandals without a proper strap.

  12. If it has rained, it might be muddy here and there.

  13. IMPORTANT: Make sure you have a gps navigation app (like ~in alphabetical order~ AllTrails (paid version), Gaia, Hiiker, Komoot, Maps.me, OSMAnd, Wikiloc,...) installed on your phone and make sure that it is working properly.
If you don't have an app installed yet, we suggest to use Hiiker to start with. Once you have downloaded the offline map of Malaysia, you can easily import and navigate any gpx file.
See further instructions sub 'How to prepare myself for navigation...?'
Do not come to the venue if you have not installed a gps navigation app at home, or have not downloaded the map of Malaysia at home, or have not opened the test gpx file at home.

  14. The meet-up time listed on the event page is the time that the event starts.

  15. If you cannot make it by 09:00 am, you can join us any time later that day.

  16. Please be responsible and don't litter – be sure not to leave any rubbish along the track or at the campsite.

  17. The mobile number of the event hosts can be found in the carpooling link e-mail.

  18. For safety reasons, make sure you have installed the 'what3words' app in your mobile phone.

  19. The event will take place unless for any reason your safety cannot be guaranteed.
