It is important to know that:

  1. If you come by car, pay attention to the given coordinates. Drivers please check the coordinates and the route you intend to follow, at least the day before the event to avoid any hiccups. It is not the first time that an app sends a driver to a different location...!
  2. The coordinates of the meet-up place are 3.209826, 101.843499.
  3. Park at the designated car park areas. The owners might charge parking fees.
  4. Carpooling is highly recommended as car parking space is rather limited. Car parking fee is not included in the participation fee.
  5. There are restrooms inside the Recreational Forest, not far from the trailhead.
  6. This is a paid event as it is compulsory to engage guides and apply for Forestry permits.
  7. Bring enough drinks and snacks (carbohydrates). Isotonic drinks are not a luxury and you will need at least 1.5 litres.

  8. Wear shoes with a good profile to prevent sliding. No slippers, no crocs, no shoes or sandals without a proper strap.

  9. If it has rained, it might be muddy here and there.

  10. There are no major stream crossings, but if the weather is bad, some places might have ankle deep water crossings.

  11. To be updated: this is a 'trans' hike, which means we do not return the same way. However we make a loop, so starting and finishing point will be the same. The ultimate decision will be made by the guides.

  12. We intend to start the hike at 07:30am and hopefully we will make it out by 04:00pm.

  13. To be updated: if we hike the loop, the total distance will be slightly less than 13 kilometres.

  14. The elevation gain is around 850 metres.

  15. IMPORTANT: Make sure you have a gps navigation app (like ~in alphabetical order~ AllTrails (paid version), Gaia, Hiiker, Komoot, Maps.me, OSMAnd, Wikiloc,...) installed on your phone and make sure that it is working properly.
If you don't have an app installed yet, we suggest to use Hiiker to start with. Once you have downloaded the offline map of Malaysia, you can easily import and navigate any gpx file.
See further instructions sub 'How to prepare myself for navigation...?'
Do not come to the venue if you have not installed a gps navigation app at home, or have not downloaded the map of Malaysia at home, or have not opened the test gpx file at home.

  16. IMPORTANT: Though we have guides for this hike, you will receive a gpx file in advance and you will have to navigate yourself. There will be no paper markers.

  17. IMPORTANT: We will perform a check of the mandatory items before the event starts. For your own safety, if you do not have the mandatory items in your possession, we will not allow you to hike.

  18. The meet-up time listed on the event page is the time that the event starts. Be sure to reach the meet-up place at least 15 minutes prior to the meet-up time. The event starts at 07:30 am.

  19. Please be responsible and don't litter – be sure not to leave any rubbish anywhere.

  20. The mobile number of the event hosts can be found in the carpooling link e-mail or in the message from the autoresponder upon submitting the Participation Form.

  21. For safety reasons, make sure you have installed the 'what3words' app in your mobile phone.

  22. The hikes will take place unless for any reason your safety cannot be guaranteed. However we can not be held responsible if the local guides would cancel the event, for whatever reason.
