It is important to know that:

  1. We need 10 participants for this event, otherwise the event will not take place. In case we don't have 10 participants all paid sums will be refunded.
  2. Once we have the required number of participants, the event will be confirmed.
  3. Make sure to arrive in Kota Kinabalu before 12:00 pm on Day 1. The exact meet-up place and time will be provided in due time via the Recommendations File. 
  4. On Day 1 we will have a van transfer from Kota Kinabalu airport to Tambunan Base Camp 1 where we will spend the night. Camping beds are provided, but sleeping bags are not.
  5. On Day 2 we will be transferred with a 4WD to the trailhead where we will start our hike. We will hike between 5-6 km to Erick Brooke Camp where we will spend the night. Camping beds are provided, but sleeping bags are not. IBP 74 - elevation gain around 800 metres.

  6. On Day 3 we will hike to the summit of Gunung Sinsing (G3 - 2,586m asl), next descend to the foot of Gunung Kaingaran (G5 - 2,482m asl) before heading to that summit. We then head back to Erick Brooke Camp where we will spend the night. Camping beds are provided, but sleeping bags are not. For this hike, a day pack will do. IBP 126 - distance 17-18 km - elevation gain and loss, both around 1,000 metres.


  7. On Day 4 we descend back to the trailhead where the 4WD will transfer us back to Tambunan Base Camp 1, followed by a van transfer to Kota Kinabalu airport. IBP 41 - elevation loss around 800 metres.

  8. If all goes according to plan, on Day 4 we should reach the trailhead once again by 03:00 pm, followed by 4WD transfer, freshen up and transfer to Kota Kinabalu airport. In order to play it safe, do not book any return flights before 09:00 pm.
  9. Purchasing a travel insurance is advised. 
  10. Do note that we will perform a check of the mandatory items right before the start of the trek. Those who are not in the possession of all mandatory items will not be allowed to start the hike.

  12. Keep in mind that there is always a chance that we are not allowed to climb certain areas due to dangerous conditions (eg landslide, earthquake, floods,...) or flight delay/cancellation - we cannot be held responsible for such cancellation.
