It is important to know that:

  1. We need 8 participants for this event, otherwise the event will not take place. In case we don't have 8 participants all paid sums will be refunded.
  2. The maximum number of participants is 16.
  3. Once we have the required number of participants, the event will be confirmed.
  4. Make sure to arrive in Madrid on Day 1. The exact meet-up place and time will be provided in due time via the Recommendations File.
  5. On Day 1 we will spend the night in a hotel in Madrid. Accommodation is part of the package.
  6. On Day 2 we will be transferred to Caín de Valdeón with a van. Transfer time will be between 5 and 6 hours.
  7. We will spend the night in the same mountain guesthouse on Days 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7. We will spend the night in a mountain hut on Day 4.
  8. Mixed gender rooms cater for 4 or 8 people.
  9. All hikes, except for Day 4, will start and end the same day in Caín de Valdeón. Only for the hike on Day 4 we will return to Caín de Valdeón the next day.
  10. In general meals in the mountain guesthouse (breakfast, dinner) are included in the package. You have to buy your own lunch pack - can be purchased in the mountain guesthouse (€9.00-€10.00). No drinks are included in the package.
  11. All trails are in mountainous terrain, and a good level of fitness is required. Some sections are steep and may require the use of hands.
  12. We will have one certified Spanish mountain guide for up to 8 participants. If the group exceeds 8 people, a second van and a second mountain guide will be added. In that case, alternative hikes can be planned on certain days according to the fitness level of the participants, except for the two-day mountain hut overnight hike. The latter will be a total group hike.
  13. Participants who prefer to skip a challenging hike or the two-day mountain hut overnight hike, can do so by prior arrangement.
  14. Weather in the Picos de Europa can change quickly. Proper hiking gear, layers and rain protection will be essential.
  15. GPX files will be provided for all main routes.
  16. The guide will always be with the group as we will hike together at all times for safety reasons.
  17. We will perform a physical check of your mandatory items before the start of the first hike. Those who are not in the possession of ALL mandatory items will NOT be allowed to hike.
  18. IMPORTANT: Luggage should be optimised as the space in the van is limited. If you need to leave luggage in Madrid you have to make your own arrangements, be it that we will look into a collective solution - but no promise...!
  19. FMM Mountain insurance is included in the package which covers rescue and accidents on the trail only.
  20. Purchasing a travel insurance is compulsory.
  21. Day 8 is reserved for the transfer from Caín de Valdeón back to Madrid. We do hope to reach Madrid latest by 04:00 pm, so do not book any flights departing Madrid before 06:00 pm.
  22. The mobile number of the event hosts can be found in the e-mail which you will receive after submitting the Participation Form.
  23. Keep in mind that there is always a chance that we are not allowed to climb certain areas due to dangerous conditions (eg landslide, earthquake, floods,...) or flight delay/cancellation - we cannot be held responsible for such cancellation.
